The third edition of the Renovation intentions survey, conducted by RenoAssistance and the Association des professionnels de la construction et de l'habitation du Québec (APCHQ), has just been released. By providing a detailed overview about interest in the work to be carried out in homes, it has become a valuable analysis for anyone working in the real estate, construction and renovation sectors in Quebec.
Summary of survey results
The results of this survey shows continued interest in home renovation projects, despite economic challenges and uncertainty revolving around the real estate market.
Interesting fact: two-thirds (66%) of respondents believe they are likely or very likely to carry out at least $5,000 worth of renovations within the next 3 years.
This resilience is reflected in the average renovation budget, which points to an upward trend compared to last year ($23,940 in 2024 compared to $21,500 in 2023).
We note that homeowners remain determined to follow through with their plans, although concerns about the economic situation may sometimes delay the start or limit the scope of renovation projects.
The study reveals the main motivating factors, types of work planned (interior, exterior, expansion, conversion or other), amounts and timelines to consider, as well as resources required to complete a property refurbishment.
The importance of surrounding yourself with professionals
The study highlights homeowners’ willingness to call on qualified contractors to bring their vision to life. This affirms the essential role of the referral service provided by RenoAssistance.
By focusing on its network of Verified Contractors, the company guarantees customers a level of expertise that is able to meet their expectations. It serves to strengthen its reputation as a key resource in the Quebec renovation industry. In fact, 23% of survey respondents visited the RenoAssistance site to find licensed contractors.
